Edith Naegele

President and Chief Executive Officer

Edith Naegele is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), the largest national trade association representing America’s independent oil and natural gas producers. She was appointed to lead the organization effective September 22, 2025, succeeding Jeff Eshelman, who had served IPAA for more than twenty-seven years and continues in an advisory capacity directing IPAA’s Energy in Depth program.

Before joining IPAA, Ms. Naegele was Vice President for Membership and Strategic Development and Corporate Secretary at the American Gas Association, a position she held beginning in 2021. Earlier in her career she spent nearly two decades at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she rose to Senior Vice President overseeing membership development and engagement, and she previously held a staff role at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.

Ms. Naegele holds a master’s degree in Science, Technology and Public Policy from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in History and Asian Studies from the University of Oregon. She is a participant in the Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
