State Senator Dale Patten (R-ND)

Legislative Advisory Board Chair

Dale Patten is a Republican member of the North Dakota State Senate, representing District 26 in the heart of the Bakken oil-producing region around Watford City. First elected in 2019, he chairs the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, the chamber’s principal forum for the state’s oil, natural gas, and emerging-energy policy. A retired banker by profession, he brings a finance background to the state’s energy and tax debates and also serves on the Senate Finance and Taxation Committee.

Beyond his standing committee work, Patten chairs the interim Advanced Nuclear Energy Committee, sits on the Emergency Response Services Committee and the Tax Reform and Relief Advisory Committee, and holds appointments to North Dakota statutory bodies including the Clean Sustainable Energy Authority, the Cash Management Board, and the High-Level Radioactive Waste Advisory Council. His portfolio places him at the center of the state’s work on both conventional production and next-generation energy infrastructure.

Senator Patten serves as Chair of the Council for a Secure America’s Legislative Advisory Board (LAB), anchoring CSA’s engagement with North Dakota and helping guide the council’s inaugural programming year.
