Peter Deutsch is a lawyer and former politician who served in the United States House of Representatives from 1993 to 2005. Deutsch was graduated from Yale Law School in 1982 and began his political career in the Florida House of Representatives that same year. Deutsch served five terms in the Florida House from 1982 to 1992. While in College and Law School Deutsch served on the staff of the US Congress Joint Economic Committee Subcommittee on Energy.
In 1992, Deutsch was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives where he served for six terms. During his time in Congress, he became the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the Energy and Commerce Committee, investigating high-profile cases such as the Enron scandal and Martha Stewart’s ImClone stock trading case. Deutsch also played a significant role in the Florida election recount following the 2000 presidential election.
Since leaving Congress, Deutsch has been in private law practice and has been on several public company boards. He is the founder of The Ben Gamla Charter School System which was the first Hebrew Language Charter School in the United States.
