John Jovanovic is the Founder and CEO of Nova Fleet, an investment fund backing and building innovative companies serving the world’s hard-to-decarbonize industries. Before founding Nova Fleet, John served as Managing Director for the Aegean & Western Balkans at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), America’s $60 billion development bank. In this role, he led regional initiatives alongside private sector investors to address critical challenges including energy security, improving critical infrastructure, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
Prior to government service, John was Investment Director at Mercuria Energy Group Ltd., an international commodity trading firm with an annual turnover of over $120 billion active in energy markets around the globe. At Mercuria, John managed investment and business building efforts across North and South America. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Pin Oak Holdings, a partnership dedicated to the acquisition, development, and operations of midstream and downstream energy and maritime assets in the U.S. Gulf Coast.
John serves as a Senior Advisor to Concordia, a global organization that facilitates public-private partnerships and convenes the largest private sector summit in conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly. John is also a member of the Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle, the McCain Institute Next Generation Leaders Advisory Council, and ICT Hub Venture.
John received his BA in Politics from Princeton University and an MBA in Finance and Management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
