Description

Requier and James Matthews Legaré were her contemporaries

from the Queen of Angels Monastery in Mount Angel

age related spotting

Looks like it's probably on the lap of a hidden "mother" or photographer's assistant

Otherwise they are in very good condition with no bends or other damage

Unusual Tintype Creepy Smiling Man Hides Behind Pillar 1860s Photo Photographer abstract Requier and James Matthews LegaréOriginal tintype showing a man with a maniacal smile on his face poking out from behind a pedestal and column. Sitting on the top is a small hammer, I think.. very strange! This is a ninth plate (1 9), early 1860s tintype behind mat and glass in its full, intact case. Light age related darkening, but looks better than my scan when viewed in daylight or strong indoor lighting, and is in overall very good+ antique condition.
