Edith Naegele is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. For nearly 100 years, IPAA has been the voice of America’s independent oil and gas explorers and producers. Today, independent producers develop 85% of onshore crude oil and 90% of America’s onshore natural gas.
Prior to joining IPAA, Naegele served as Vice President, Membership and Strategic Development at the American Gas Association (AGA). AGA represents more than 200 local energy companies committed to the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to more than 79 million customers throughout the nation. Under Naegele’s leadership, AGA greatly expanded its outreach to the financial community and helped position gas utilities in global markets with investors. She also overhauled member engagement and member communications to strengthen the voice of gas utilities in Washington.
Reflecting her dedication to business, jobs, and innovation, Naegele worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for nearly twenty years, defending business in Washington, in the states, and in the court of public opinion. She began her energy career at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC). She was also an Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy participant at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in its Energy and National Security Program.
Naegele holds a Master of Arts from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon.
